During the whole session she didnt cry ones. At one point she wanted to eat but that was about it. As peaceful as can be. I was amazed!

Warning.. this will be a long and sappy Blog entry but it is a very important one to me.
Irene is probably my closest friend here in the US. I met her 5 years ago online, on a yahoo group. She was going through a rough time and I offered her to just come over. She didnt know me, I didnt know her – she came over anyway.
Since then we have shared so many smiles and tears, we have grown very close. I trust her with my heart and I know she is there whenever I need her .. and the same the other way around.
Irene and her husband David had been trying to get pregnant for several years but it just didnt happen. I held off on getting my tubes tied because I was considering carrying as a surrogate for her, should no treatment work.
Luckily it didnt come that far, the two of them finally announced they were expecting. I was soooo thrilled.
Fast foward … she was due christmas day. The day came and went – nothing. New Years eve we spent at a friends house and she was still pregnant, rocking out to rockband.
The very next morning (the one time I forgot to leave my cell next to my bed) I woke up to a message that she was in the hospital. 20 minutes later I was on my way. I got there shortly before 9am and she was about 5cm and had already gotten her epidural but the contractions seemed to be slowing down. I sat with her and her husband, chatted and waited. He water was broken by the doctor and the contractions finally picked up. Around noon our mutual friend Lauren arrived and her and I went to the cafeteria to have some lunch and give Irene and Dave a chance to nap. We were about half way through lunch when David called that he thinks she is ready to push. We raced back up there like maniacs.
After 2 hours of pushing, an almost c-section that was avoided with the help of the vacuum, Cristin Marie entered the world.
OMG everyone, I can not even describe the way I felt… and I have two children of my own. This was different. I bawled like a little child.
Irene, I know I have told you before but I want to tell you again… I love you dearly and you have been there for me through so much. Allowing me to be there for the birth of your child was the most amazing thing anyone has ever done for me. I am so so lucky to have been able to share this moment with you and Dave. I love you guys!!!
Below some pics of Cristin right after birth (snapshots with my point and shoot) and then some more from my next day visit and today’s photosession

Katie and Peter were my first wedding of 2010, on January 2. It was freeeeeeezing cold, 30 degrees with a negative something windchill. Burrrrr. But it was dry, no rain, no ice.. and most of all no blizzard!!
Starting around 8.30am, Katie got her Make Up and Hair done by Ashley from Up Do’s for I Do’s at her parents home in Ellicott City. (And wow, what a gorgeous house!!) It was nice and low key back at the house as it was only the family there, the bridesmaids were coming straight to the venue.
Ashley did a fantastic job and so quickly too! I can only recommend you to check her out.
At 10am we all left to drive to the venue, which was the Manor House of Savage Mills. Beautiful little Mansion. In the bridal suit the excitement started to pick up .. now everyone there, the wedding chaos began 🙂
Katie and Peter decided to do a reveal right before the Ceremony which helped to take some of Katie’s nervousness.
Katie is Jewish – American and Peter is Bulgarian. So the Wedding included elements of both traditions. There was a traditional chuppah and the breaking of the glass, but there was also a bulgarian bread ceremony in the beginning of the reception, in which the mothers feed their “new” children a piece of bread with honey.
The reception was a lot of fun, lots of dancing and laughter. We all didnt even realize how fast we ran out of time. Towards the end of the reception we did some formal photographs inside (I did make the bridal party go outside for a couple of shots but it was just too cold to do it all outside)
Katie and Peter, you guys are such a handsome and fun couple. I wish you all the best for your married life, and hope to stay in touch.
I couldnt decide which photos to share so I am posting a bunch of them 🙂
